Anestesia epidural

Anestesia epidural é uma forma de controle da dor baseado na administração de substâncias por via epidural (peridural), mais frequentemente anestésicos locais em baixas concentrações e analgésicos da classe dos opioides. Podendo a administração ser:

  • única
  • repetida em partes (bolus)
  • infundida continuamente
  • administrada de forma controlada pelo paciente

À exceção da administração única, todos os demais regimes necessitam a colocação de um catéter que permanecerá pelo tempo da analgesia (em geral não mais que 48 horas). O regime controlado pelo paciente necessita a utilização de uma bomba de infusão programável associado a algum mecanismo de gatilho que permita ao paciente solicitar as doses conforme sua necessidade sem que haja risco de sobredose. Sua principal indicação é o controle da dor pós-operatória.
